A weekend of hiking and camping in the Cairngorm National Park.

Many people when walking in the Cairngorms stand on the top of the summit of Cairn Gorm and look in awe at what lies beyond the summit, and then saunter back to the car park and onto a café to reflect and upload selfies from the day… We know what lies beyond, it’s fantastic…. it’s breath-taking…. And we would like to take you there…

Starting from the Cairngorm Ski Station, we will head up the path to the summit of Cairn Gorm ( At 1245 metres (4084 ft) it is the sixth-highest mountain in the UK ) we will then leave the crowds behind at this point and head out into the wilderness.
Dropping down into the Loch A’an basin with views of the glen and the surrounding area that rival any in the world never mind the UK.

We will visit the Shelter Stone, Shelter Stone – a truly massive (1360 ton) fallen boulder, balanced on many smaller stones, which has been a place of shelter and refuge for centuries.
We will then start our climb back out the basin to Loch Etchachan, Our campsite for the night.
Loch Etchachan is a very remote freshwater loch set deep within the central Cairngorms plateau, in the Cairngorms National Park . It is the highest water body of its size in the UK, the surface being 927 metres (3,041 ft) above sea level. This area of the National park often holds ice and snow for most of the year.

At this point there is an option to carry on for 2km to Derry Cairngorm to bag your second Scottish Munro of the day, before returning to the campsite to rest , have a brew, and start fueling
up, as later that evening we will head up onto Beinn Mheadhoin ( 3rd Munro) to watch the sunset behind the “Barns” (Massive granite rock structures on the summit) *see pictures
Three mountains, its time for bed……

After a late start the next morning (and a possible wild swim/dip/wash in the highest water body of its size in the UK?!) we will set off back via a different route back down to the car park. This will most likely be via Cairn Lochan, another notable summit at 1215m.
In order to get the most out of this weekend, timings etc will not be set in stone and the trip will be kept as fluid and dynamic as possible. The area is stunning and is worth taking time to appreciate and enjoy.

This whole weekend is aimed at a standard level of fitness.

PER PERSON £99
Minimum 3 people needed to make trip run.
